Tengevolge van een ongeluk in Frankrijk tussen twee Standart zeilers heeft de ISSA besloten om een aantal voorstellen te doen mbt de veiligheid van de Standart. Op 31 januari 2009 heeft de FISLY het voorstel aangenomen en besloten dat dit met ingang van 1 mei 2009 in weking treedt.

Standart Class' pilots are strongly advised to place pedals on the crank gear to avoid breaking an ankle in case of shock. The additional pedals are already an option in the current "Standart" gauge (see attachment 1).

B/Mandatory requirements : as of may 1, 2009
1-Replacement of hauling ends by a binding strap secure dat 3 places on the steering axle : at meeting point with the stick, with the inspection hatch and with the fork (see attachment 2).

2-Replacement of the current single-arm fork with adouble-arm fork and with a 400/8 wheel (see
attachment 3). 


Seagull has already agreed to supply the parts pilots willneed within a reasonable time and at a "modificationpackage" price of hunder 105 euros all taxes included.This means there is a transition period. This transitionperiod will end on May 1, 2009 when the "Standart" will be equipped with this new kit. As of May 1, 2009, all "Standart" participating in acompetition will have to be equipped with this kit.
